Alfie came to us in August 2023 with his mum Josie. Both had been badly neglected and their feet were in a shocking condition. It appeared Alfie had not seen a farrier in his 18 months of life, his feet were badly overgrown, cracked and infected. We weren’t sure he was going to survive. Alfie was craving attention but didn’t really know how to behave around people and was prone to kicking out as a result of being fearful of humans.

As we worked with Alfie his cheeky personality started to show as he began to trust people again. Alfie is now a very calm and sweet natured donkey despite his awful start in life and is learning to trust humans again.

Alfie has formed a lovely bond with Coffee and follows her everywhere.

Sponsoring Alfie costs only £40 for the year, which can be paid in one payment or £4.00 a month direct debit. It’s up to you !

In return you will receive a welcome email, your downloadable Sponsorship Certificate and a digital photo of her, plus a voucher for entry to one or all of our open days here at Durham Donkey Rescue for the duration of your sponsorship where you will get the opportunity to meet and hug Alfie and his companions.
