Sponsor a Donkey

You can sponsor one of our resident donkeys. Sponsoring one of our donkeys means that you are helping secure their future, in the lifestyle to which they have become accustomed. Take a look at the gorgeous faces on our Sponsorship page and choose the one(s) who appeal to you most. Sponsoring a donkey costs only £40 for the year, which can be paid in one payment or £4.00 a month. It’s up to you! 

You will receive a welcome email from us. Your Sponsorship Certificate, digital photo of your chosen donkey and a voucher to visit on our open days are downloadable documents.  PLEASE NOTE we do not send out sponsorship packs you download the documents yourself meaning they are instantly accessible. 

You can download your documents from our website by selecting the My account option and logging in using the email and password you used to create your sponsorship account. 

As a sponsor your voucher entitles you to entry of one or all of our open days here at Durham Donkey Rescue for the duration of your sponsorship. You will have the opportunity to meet “your” donkey and all their friends and companions.

We have nine open days a year, (all are on a Saturday) March to October and then a Christmas open day in December. Dates can be found under events by clicking on the dates on the calendar.

Sponsoring a donkey DOES NOT allow access to our walking and hugging events. These events are bookable separately and require separate payment.

Please note we are only open to the public for visits on the prearranged Open days as we are an animal rescue not a visitor centre. 

A sponsorship makes the ideal gift, and helps one of our lovely donkeys too. Sponsoring one of our donkeys makes you part of our team. We couldn’t do it without you! What we do at the rescue relies purely on the dedication and determination of our volunteers and every penny of donations received ensures the donkeys receive the best care possible. Your sponsorship makes all of this possible, and brings you into the Durham Donkey Rescue family. Any surplus money accumulated through sponsorship of a particular donkey will be spread amongst the other donkeys so they all share your care!

If for any reason your sponsorship donkey leaves us, we will transfer your sponsorship to another donkey. The funds from your sponsorship payments are used for all of our donkeys and are not used soley for your particular sponsorship donkey.

Gift Vouchers are also available to buy which can be redeemed for our events or stays with us.  They are available in any amount of your choosing. They make the ideal birthday or Christmas present!
